The Kimberley Process is a certification scheme that was launched in 2003 by the United Nations to ensure that conflict diamonds do not enter the world market. Conflict diamonds are diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments and are sold to fund opposition to those governments. Currently, over 75 countries worldwide, including Canada, participate in this process which demands that each shipment of rough diamonds crossing an international border is accompanied by a government-validated Kimberley Process Certificate. At Graziella Fine Jewellery, we are proud to be a part of this initiative.
