The Kimberley Process
On January 1, 2003 International trades in rough diamonds has changed, no longer can diamonds move freely from country to country. A company named The Kimberley Process was created to track internationally traded diamonds. The Kimberly Process invented a certification program called KPCS (Kimberley Process Certification Scheme). This certification assures the consumer that the diamond they are purchasing is conflict free. The certification scheme now counts for at least 99.8% of global production of rough diamonds.
