The Jerusalem Cross is very rich in symbolism and historic
meaning. It is said that the Large Cross in the middle
represents the great city of Jerusalem, and the four smaller crosses represent the four Gospels and the four corners of the world to which they were carried to, beginning in Jerusalem.

In 1099 when the Kingdom of Jerusalem was formed, the members of the first crusade used this cross as their symbol. Since then, it has been carried by many royal families on their coat of arms.
